This is one of the regular things we do in the classroom each monday morning. I call it Monday Morning Chat. I have found that this is truly a good idea to do after a weekend. My students always have things to tell me, so I just set aside time first thing in the morning, and we all get to tell what we did over the weekend. They have engaged me into this also! Many times we hear the same thing from friends because of sports and playdates, but they don't seem to mind because they want their turn to chat. We always start with the StAr student of the Week. Anyone that doesn't follow the rules, (and there has been some) goes back to their seat for the remainder of the time.
