Tuesday, November 6th......Election Day!!

Well, what an exciting day it was today.  A presidential election day!   This is the first 'major' election that my students have been exposed to.  In 2008, these students were only 4-5 years old.  Four years later they have a little better understanding about what is happening.  Of course I wanted to include them in 'voting' themselves.  I made a voting center in our classroom.  For about a week or so, our Social Studies topic has been the election.  I put together a packet of fun election activities and worksheet that they students could work on.  I picked and chose everything off the internet that was age appropriate for my students.  We discussed the First family, the White House, Secret Service, etc.

They were very excited to vote today. We had a ballot box and voting slips.  After each student voted, they got a sticker that said "I voted today!"  We are tallying up the votes tomorrow.  Here is one of the pictures of the voting center.  I will upload a picture of the students voting also.  I hope everyone enjoyed teaching their students about the election as much as I did.
