Wow!  October already....4 weeks of school down.  Where does the time go?  I hope I am still saying this in January.

This weekend while I was doing my plans, I was thinking about how I could teach greater than and less than.  They always seems to read the symbol wrong.  After recently seeing a pac-man game, I tried to relate the symbol to the pac-man.  I gave the students each a cup and had them trace the outline of the bottom of the cup.  Then I had them erase  a little bit so it would look like a C.  I had them draw the greater/less than sign in the circle.  They could decorate their pac-man anyway they wished.  They then had to put a number before and after each sign.  They read the greater/less than statement aloud so I could hear if they were mixing it up.  Here are some students working on this activity.
